About Me

So, I'm doing everything out of order on this blog...I suppose I should have done all of the preliminary stuff first - like introducing myself and my family...but that would have been too much like reading a magazine from front to back instead of the RIGHT WAY which is back to front.  But for those of you who like normalcy and order, I do apologize.  So, a little about me:

At present,  I am a year shy of 40 (okay, more like a few months shy...oh sweet Lord in heaven) I’m a full foot shorter than my husband – but please recall that he is  tall – reread his bio, if you must. (which I haven't posted yet!!! yes, reading this blog will be like a maddening puzzle that can never be solved)   I am not short or height challenged, and I'm offended that you insinuated so.  I am petite.  In Asian cultures, this is a good thing.  I am thinking about moving to Japan, where they will appreciate my stature. And these will be my new best friends:
And we will do karaoke together and play Hello Kitty and watch anime on tv while we eat our udon noodles.  It will be like an Asian version of FRIENDS (the tv show) and see the guy with the pink bow?  He will be Ross and the girl with the hoop earrings will be Monica and the other girl will be Rachel.  So that leaves me stuck being either Joey or Chandler since I am neither tall, willowy, or blonde, like Phoebe. Damn. I always get the sucky parts.

But I digress.

I am a brunette.  I will not tell you how much I weigh.  Ever.

It’s not that I am overweight per se, I just don't appreciate being measured in pounds, like a chuck roast or something.  Poundage stinks.  We should stop using pounds as a form of human mass measurement all together and go  to abacus(es) .

Then I could just say,

“Oh yeah, I weigh 3 red beads and 4 blue ones – but I’m really hoping to lose a green bead before short season.”

Don’t you agree, that is so much better?  If I ever get to my goal weight …then I will tell you how much I weigh.  Until then, don’t ask again.  Don’t get your hopes up, either.  Which brings me to my next piece of biographical information.  I love food.  I love eating about it and reading about it.  That is why you will see much ado made about food on this blog – and where possible, I will insert applicable recipes.  This is mainly for my own benefit.

I have been married since 1989.  Yes, to the same man.  Amazing, isn't it?  More about my love in my post about him.  I have been a stay at home Mom for 16 years.  I have a love/hate relationship with the job, but I don’t regret one second of it.   I have 3 kiddos.  All boys.  16, 13, & 9 years old... I love my boys like crazy and count myself blessed beyond belief to have spent so much time with them.  That said, the truth is that at least once a day, I want to kill one of them.  Not REALLY.  Not in the drown them all in a bathtub starting with the oldest and working my way down to the youngest, kind of way.  Not that kind of  thing.  How horrid.  No, I don’t want anybody to die.  I just want them all to go to a different country for a week and STOP DRIVING ME INSANE.  That’s all.  So that’s not killing at all…that is merely exporting goods.  So in a way, that would make me an international businesswoman, not a murderer, wouldn’t you agree?

I have the two best parents ever.  EVER.  Jan & Bob - who live in Iowa.  And a Sister that I love dearly.  And wonderful in-laws all around and nieces and nephews who are cuter than yours.  just kidding.  not really.

Now that we have that established, back to me.  In addition to my family, I LOVE LOVE  LOVE animals and can never be satisfied without several of them in my life.  I wish I lived on a big ranch and I could have as many horses and dogs and baby animals as I desired.  That is it.  The extent of my dreams then, is to be a modern day Noah.  But I don’t want to have to build the big boat…oh Lordie, no.  Too much work for me.

Lastly, I do NOT like being photographed.  Or looked at. SO if you try to take a picture of me, this is probably what you will end up with:

And apparently, I have passed this on to my youngest son, because here is the photo I got of him just yesterday:
