And They Call It Puppy Love

There are precious few things on this earth that I love more than
puppies. I mean they are the epitome of all
that is good and pure and wonderful about this life. Their love is
unconditional. And they are soft and smell good and don't EVEN get me
started on puppy breath! And what about the teensy weensy noses? And
the velvety, impossibly soft triangle ears? I'm addicted to puppies
the way some people are to crack. Need it, want it, gotta have it.

Which is why I find it imperative to have a new puppy at least every
4-5 years. And guess what? Time's up!
Our little bundle of goodness arrived at the end of April and we will
receive said bundle June 17th, according to the breeder. Here is the
first photo we've seen of the litter.

So, did you go "AWWWWWWWWW!!!" ????? If not, you may truly need to
check your pulse - to see if you have one that is....

They are 2 week old yellow labrador retrievers....but to me they look
like TWINKIES. Big fat juicy, cream-filled sponge cakes.

Can't you see the resemblance?

And I want to eat them with a spoon. Or at least hold one. And
kiss it's soft angel head.
In honor of these delightful puppy confections, I have written a poem
or a sing song jump rope kind of thing.

Twinky Winkies on a plate
How much milk have you ate ? (eaten doesn't rhyme, now does it?)
All filled up, it's time to sleep.
Snuggle up tight and don't make a peep
Momma's near so don't you worry
Squeeze tween the sibs all nice and furry.
Dream twinkie dreams sweet little lamb
We'll be there to get you
Just as fast as we can.

(Yes, I know, that wasn't a true rhyme...)

I'll keep you posted!  Meantime, if you can't run out and get yourself a little twinkie of your own, here's a recipe so you can just MAKE one (don't forget to eat with a spoon!):

Homemade Twinkies

Recipe #110009 | 1½ hours | 30 min prep | SERVES 12 (Change Servings)

RECIPE BY: MelinOhio

I have made these for years. Everyone loves them. They would auction them off at a fundraiser at a local church for $5.00 each piece. I would bake 3 pans to try to fill the demand. I have used 1 cup butter and no crisco and it turned out fine. My daughter always request this for her birthday.
